Innovatemap Receives Four-Time Inc. 5000 Recognition

Innovatemap has been named a 2021 Inc. 5000 company, cementing our agency’s growth for the fourth consecutive year.

The Inc. 5000 list is published annually by Inc., a national business magazine, and represents the country’s fastest-growing private companies. Names that regularly lead the list include international brands like Microsoft, Patagonia, and more. The final list is derived from company revenue reports, and places are assigned based on an organization’s individual revenue growth over the previous year.

But in 2021, being named to the top 5000 companies also reflects perseverance and flexibility in the face of 2020’s economic challenges. As Inc. Editor-in-Chief Scott Omelianuk describes, “Building one of the fastest-growing companies in America in any year is a remarkable achievement. Building one in the crisis we’ve lived through is just plain amazing. This kind of accomplishment comes with hard work, smart pivots, great leadership, and the help of a whole lot of people.”

For Innovatemap, 2020 meant responding to obstacles with agility and flexibility. We transitioned our agency from one driven by in-office experiences and word-of-mouth marketing to finding, and serving, clients wherever they are. According to our CEO Mike Reynolds, this required exploring uncharted territory and grappling with complicated emotions not felt since the founding year of the company.

“This year in particular gave me an emotional reaction,” Mike said. “It wasn’t our ‘best’ year. But this is a reminder that it was still great, and that at the end of it all, maybe 2020 was our best year because of what we learned and how we adapted. Finishing where we did was an unprecedented effort by the entire team.”

2020 gave our team the chance to experiment with new markets and serve clients beyond Indianapolis and the Midwest. Our team lifted the agency’s reputation as a place where digital product problems are solved to a national audience. As we sought product partners—many of whom also faced with an unclear path forward—our main goal was to educate others about the value of our process and the need to deploy better digital products as the working world was thrust into a hybrid environment. As a result, today almost half of Innovatemap’s clients exist outside of Indiana.

While 2020 “resurrected our survival instinct,” as Mike describes, that instinct brought out the best in our team. It strengthened our bonds with each other and encouraged the company as a whole to stay creative, remain confident in our talent, and communicate who we are with clarity. Although every next step felt like quicksand, we stayed motivated through each other and in our mission to help our clients thrive in an unpredictable year.

“Our adaptation that bore fruit in 2020 now represents our growth strategy for the next chapter,” Mike said. “We figured it out. We opened the door to wonderful leaders and founders, and now we know we can help them well, wherever they may be. I’m so grateful for the clients who believed in us.”
