Fall in NYC

Ashley King, Senior Growth Manager

four fall scenes in new york city

Picture this: crisp air that doesn’t make you sweat through your favorite tech company hoodie, golden sunlight that makes every selfie Instagram-worthy, and an energy so electric it could power all of Silicon Alley! Gone are the sweltering summer subways and tourist-packed streets. Instead, we’ve got the perfect backdrop for innovation, collaboration, and maybe a pumpkin spice latte or two (no judgment here!).

The Tech Scene Comes Alive

In the tech world, fall is when everything kicks into high gear. VCs are back from their summer breaks, ready to write checks and meet with founders. Accelerator programs are launching their new cohorts, and networking events are popping up left and right. It’s a time of momentum and positivity, with companies planning for the upcoming year and startups showcasing their latest innovations.

Some exciting events on the horizon include the New York Enterprise Tech Meetup, featuring speakers from innovative companies like Ramp and Figma. Of course, there’s also a buzz around AI, with events focused on AI agents in the enterprise world. These gatherings are perfect opportunities to catch up on the latest trends, brush elbows with founders and investors, and get a pulse on the NYC tech landscape.

What’s Got Me Buzzing

Personally, I’m on the edge of my standing desk to see which tech companies have not just survived but thrived over the past year. With the evolving landscape of VC funding and the shift toward writing larger checks to fewer companies, it’ll be exciting to see which businesses truly stand out in 2025.

Above all, I’m itching for those face-to-face meetups that Zoom just can’t replicate. These events are where I have gotten the best advice from some of the top tech leaders in the country, where I’ve met Innovatemap clients, and where I’ve had enough hors d’oeuvres to call it dinner!

My Favorite Meeting Spots

When it comes to meeting up with people, I have a few go-to spots. For coffee, I love Devoción Coffee in Flatiron. It’s centrally located near Union Square, making it convenient for most people and if we’re up for a walk and talk, the proximity to the park is perfect.

For a more relaxed vibe, Maman is a great choice. They actually don’t allow laptops, so you can relish in some tech-free face time that’s rare nowadays. And if you’re looking for something a bit different, I recently discovered Madame Bonté, which is coffee by day and wine bar by night, so a coffee meeting can turn right into a well-deserved happy hour.

Visiting NYC This Fall?

If you’re planning a trip to New York, fall is the perfect time to come. The city is buzzing with energy, but it’s not yet overwhelmed with holiday tourists. Here are a few tips:

  1. Reach out to locals (like me!) for suggestions on what to do and see. And please, avoid Times Square at all costs.
  2. If you’re here for work, let me know – I can recommend networking events that align with your interests.
  3. Subscribe to newsletters like Tech:NYC, nextNYC, and NYC B2B for the latest on tech events.
  4. Don’t wait until December for the festive atmosphere – some holiday markets, like the one in Bryant Park, open as early as late October.

So there you have it, folks! Fall in NYC is the season where connections are made, ideas are born, and the next big thing in tech might just be conceived over a slice of pizza. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, now’s the time to dive headfirst into the whirlwind that is the NYC tech scene.

See you out there – I’ll be the one juggling a coffee, a smartphone, and probably a bagel!
